//'One Today': Full Text of Richard Blanco Inaugural Poem//

"One Today" One sun rose on us today, kindled over our shores, peeking over the Smokies, greeting the faces of the Great Lakes, spreading a simple truth across the Great Plains, then charging across the Rockies. One light, waking up rooftops, under each one, a story told by our silent gestures moving behind windows. My face, your face, millions of faces in morning's mirrors, each one yawning to life, crescendoing into our day: pencil-yellow school buses, the rhythm of traffic lights, fruit stands: apples, limes, and oranges arrayed like rainbows begging our praise. Silver trucks heavy with oil or paper— bricks or milk, teeming over highways alongside us, on our way to clean tables, read ledgers, or save lives— to teach geometry, or ring-up groceries as my mother did for twenty years, so I could write this poem. All of us as vital as the one light we move through, the same light on blackboards with lessons for the day: equations to solve, history to question, or atoms imagined, the "I have a dream" we keep dreaming, or the impossible vocabulary of sorrow that won't explain the empty desks of twenty children marked absent today, and forever. Many prayers, but one light breathing color into stained glass windows, life into the faces of bronze statues, warmth onto the steps of our museums and park benches as mothers watch children slide into the day. Our ground, rooting us to every stalk of corn, every head of wheat sown by sweat and hands, hands gleaning coal or planting windmills in deserts and hilltops that keep us warm, hands digging trenches, routing pipes and cables, hands as worn as my father's cutting sugarcane so my brother and I could have books and shoes. The dust of farms and deserts, cities and plains mingled by one wind—our breath. Breathe. Hear it through the day's gorgeous din of honking cabs, buses launching down avenues, the symphony of footsteps, guitars, and screeching subways, the unexpected song bird on your clothes line. Hear: squeaky playground swings, trains whistling, or whispers across café tables, Hear: the doors we open for each other all day, saying: hello, shalom, buon giorno, howdy, namaste, or buenos días in the language my mother taught me—in every language spoken into one wind carrying our lives without prejudice, as these words break from my lips. One sky: since the Appalachians and Sierras claimed their majesty, and the Mississippi and Colorado worked their way to the sea. Thank the work of our hands: weaving steel into bridges, finishing one more report for the boss on time, stitching another wound or uniform, the first brush stroke on a portrait, or the last floor on the Freedom Tower jutting into a sky that yields to our resilience. One sky, toward which we sometimes lift our eyes tired from work: some days guessing at the weather of our lives, some days giving thanks for a love that loves you back, sometimes praising a mother who knew how to give, or forgiving a father who couldn't give what you wanted. We head home: through the gloss of rain or weight of snow, or the plum blush of dusk, but always—home, always under one sky, our sky. And always one moon like a silent drum tapping on every rooftop and every window, of one country—all of us— facing the stars hope—a new constellation waiting for us to map it, waiting for us to name it—together.

//You decide: Is Tony Gonzalez a Hall of Famer?//

Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez might have played in his final game Sunday. His team lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL championship game, and many are expecting him to call it a career. "It's probably the last time I'm going to wear that uniform," Gonzalez said after the Falcons' 28-24 loss. "I didn't want to take it off, to tell you the truth. All good things come to an end, and like I said all season long, this is probably my last one. What an unbelievable ride." Gonzalez said throughout the season that he was 95% sure this would be it for him. He said he will discuss his plans with his family before making his final decision on retirement. "I'm not going to cry about it," Gonzalez said after the conclusion of his 16th season. "I walk away with the satisfaction I left everything, absolutely everything, every time I was on the field. I wish it would have culminated with the Super Bowl, but it didn't." Gonzalez is second on the career receptions list with 1,242 and is the most decorated tight end in NFL history, ranking first at the position in catches, yards and touchdowns. Overall, he is sixth with 103 touchdown catches and seventh with 14,268 yards receiving yards. Is Gonzalez a Hall of Famer? First ballot? Should he wait? Vote and let us know what you think.

//Tony Gonzalez 'probably' will retire//

Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez said Sunday's loss to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game was "probably" his last NFL game, echoing his thoughts throughout the season that he was 95 percent sure he would retire after this season. Gonzalez had eight catches for 72 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown reception with 25 seconds remaining in the first half. The Falcons didn't score again. The 36-year-old tight end was voted to his third straight Pro Bowl in four seasons with the Falcons, but said Sunday he's unlikely to play in the game. His 2012 selection was the 13th time he's been voted to the league's all-star game. Gonzalez Set TE Standard Tony Gonzalez has helped set a new standard for tight ends in his 16-year career. //Beyonce lip-synced 'The Star Spangled Banner,' reports say ///

Halfway through her rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" at President Barack Obama's inauguration on Monday, Beyonce dramatically did away with the earpiece that singers use to hear themselves and their bands in a live setting. One viewer likened it to the gutsy move Luke Skywalker made in the dramatic chase scene in the original "Star Wars," tweeting: "Taking out the earpiece is Luke turning off the targeting system in the Death Star trench." But now a rep for the United States Marine Band has confirmed to The Post that Beyonce was not even singing the song live. She was lip-syncing. The rep said that the multi-platinum singer decided to perform to a pre-recorded track at the last minute. “All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day,” Kristin DuBois told the paper. “We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know what the reason why.” Sources also tell Fox News that Beyonce was a no-show at the inauguration performance rehearsal on the Capitol steps. And there's more. A report in The Washingtonian questions the band's performance as well, citing eyewitnesses at the inauguration who said the band was not playing either. The report also shows an Instagram picture of Beyonce with members of the Marine Corps Band in a recording studio on Sunday. If the lip-syncing allegations are true, would that make Beyonce's dramatic earpiece drop mere staging, akin to funk legend James Brown's move of dramatically throwing off his cape in his performances? Calls to reps for Beyonce and the Marine Corps Band were not immediately returned. FOX411 did a poll on Monday asking viewers if Beyonce or Kelly Clarkson gave the best vocal performance at the inauguration. Clarkson sang "America," and so far has not been accused of using a pre-recorded track. Fans seemed to be split on whether or not they cared that Beyonce didn't perform live. "Even if she did WHO CARES??!? You know she can sing it," one user posted on Facebook. "What's with all the excuses nowadays? If you're such a renowned singer, then shouldn't you do what you supposedly do best and SING?" another disagreed. //Beyonce buzz: She lip-synced the national anthem//

Beyoncé has been widely praised for her beautiful rendition of the national anthem at Monday's presidential inauguration. But even after seeing her triumphantly pull her earpiece out as she belted out the words, buzz is now bubbling up that the superstar wasn't singing it live. TheTimes of London is reporting that a spokeswoman for the Marine Corps Band says it is standard procedure to record a backing track and that Beyoncé decided soon before stepping to the microphone to use it. UPDATE, 1 p.m. ET: Master Sgt. Kristin DuBois, spokeswoman for the President's Own United States Marine Corps Band, confirms to USA TODAY's Maria Puente that Beyoncé was lip-syncing. It's standard operating procedure for musicians to pre-record crucial music such as Hail to the Chief and The Star-Spangled Banner. "You can't have a presidential inauguration and not have Hail to the Chief and Star-Spangled Banner," she says. And it's not unprecedented to use the pre-recorded track, as Yo-Yo Ma did last time, classical instruments being delicate in cold weather. But the band performed live for the entire ceremony, except for Beyoncé. DuBois says they were "surprised" to be given instructions during the ceremonies that they were to stand and pretend to play their instruments during the national anthem, and they "don't know" why that decision was made. Or even who made it. Probably Beyoncé. "It's not what we would have chosen, but we were instructed to do it so we did."' As for Beyoncé, "we all know she has the pipes," she said. "It wasn't because she can't sing it or because the band can't play it, because we can. … We performed live, as we have for every inauguration since 1801." She said that every four years somebody wants to write a story about "was it live or was it Memorex?" She also says Kelly Clarkson sang live, and that the band's staff arranger wrote the special arrangement of My Country, 'Tis of Thee that she used. If anyone can handle brutal playing conditions, the band can, she says. "This group of people are such pros, they can make it work no matter what. They are so accustomed to playing under any condition." Washingtonian.com posed the question, too: "Did Beyoncé Lip-Sync the Star-Spangled Banner?" Washingtonian's Sophie Gilbert writes, "To press seated just below the podium, in front of the 'President's Own' Marine Corps Band, it was evident that the band wasn't actually playing during the song — even though band director Colonel Michael J. Colburn was conducting energetically and the band members mimicked blowing into their instruments." And offering more possible evidence, Gilbert notes that "the day before the ceremony, Beyoncé posted pictures to her Instagram account that appeared to show her in a recording studio. In one, she holds a copy of the sheet music to The Star Spangled Banner in front of a microphone attached to a recording device, and in another she sits in front of recording equipment while members of the Marine Corps Band stand clutching sheet music behind her."

///Barack, Michelle Obama Share Inside Joke At Inauguration Brunch: Caption This///

All eyes were on the Obamas during the 57th Presidential Inauguration this weekend, but by the looks of a photo snapped by White House photographer, Pete Souza, it seems as though Barack only had eyes for Michelle. Souza captured President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama standing together in the Blue Room of the White House before a brunch celebrating the Inauguration on Friday and we're dying to know -- what's all the grinning about? And can we get in on the joke? The first couple's cozy demeanor only intensified as the weekend went on, reaching full-blown PDA by Monday's swearing-in ceremony.

//Falcons survive late Seahawks rally, advance with 30-28 win//

ATLANTA -- They were still exhaling in relief, still soaking in an improbable postseason breakthrough when someone threw cold water on the Atlanta Falcons' post-game celebration a half-hour after they exorcized their postseason demons. Someone raised the name of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick after Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank said his "pair of Matty Ices'', quarterback Matt Ryan and kicker Matt Bryant, collaborated to complete a last-minute comeback that Bryant sealed with his 49-yard field goal for a 30-28 win over the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoffs. The first playoff win of the coach Mike Smith-Ryan era after four tries vaulted the top-seeded Falcons into Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the 49ers for the right to advance to Super Bowl XLVII. BOX SCORE: Falcons 30, Seahawks 28 All Kaepernick did in Saturday night's divisional throttling of Green Bay was gain 444 yards of offense -- all by himself. Kaepernick threw for 263 yards, two touchdowns and ran for another two touchdowns and 181 yards, a postseason rushing record by a quarterback that keyed San Francisco's 45-31 romp. In other words, Kaepernick is Russell Wilson squared. "We got that monkey off our backs, and now we've got to break new ground go get a championship win and hopefully go on to New Orleans to get another,'' safety Thomas DeCoud said, referencing Super Bowl XLVII. "We're going to see another physical team. This game gave us a cheat sheet for us to go see another good mobile quarterback.'' WHAT?: Sherman mocks White after touchdown Kaepernick is arguably a more dangerous threat than unflinching rookie Wilson, who rallied the fifth-seeded Seahawks from a 27-7 third-quarter deficit. "We're ready to do it all over again and play a little better than we did today,'' cornerback Dunta Robinson said. "I watched San Francisco play. It's going to be tough. We know how electrifying he (Kaepernick) was. "We learned if we want to go where we can go, we need to tackle and cover better than this.''

Jodie Foster is not ready to walk out into the sunset, thank you very much. After delivering a powerful, news-making speech at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills on Sunday Jan. 13 -- in which the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award winner acknowledged that she's gay and seemed to hint at retirement -- Foster, 50, clarified her statements to reporters in the Green Room at the Beverly Hilton. PHOTOS: What all the stars wore at the Globes "I could never stop acting. You'd have to drag me behind, like, a team of horses," the Silence of the Lambs star insisted. "No, I'm not retiring from acting. And, you know, I'd like to be directing tomorrow . . . I'm actually more into it than I have ever been." Foster, who has been acting since she was a toddler, explained that the point of her speech was "that people change. Change is important. And, you know, hopefully I'll be doing different things than I did when I was three years old and six years old and ten years old and 20 years old . . . My work is evolving." PHOTOS: Best Globes moments ever As for the more personal aspects of the address, in which Foster mentioned her former female partner and explained she "came out a million years ago" in private? "The speech kind of speaks for itself. It's a big, long career, and it's not just a career; it's friendships and relationships . . . I feel like I am graduating from something . . . And it's a big moment, and I wanted to say, you know, what's most in my heart." Foster, mom to sons Charlie and Kit, added that she wasn't worried about regretting her frank disclosure the morning after. "It's an expression of who I am and what I'm thinking and feeling." The Accused actress also raised a few eyebrows (as she has in the past) when she acknowledged her close friend, the ever-controversial, volatile Mel Gibson, in her speech. (Gibson, 57, looked on tearfully in the audience.) PHOTOS: Out and proud stars "I know Mel Gibson extremely well, and he's somebody that I love and that I have worked with and that I respect, and it's not difficult to say that. You know, it's very easy to say that. My — the man that I know is a true and loyal friend, and considerate, loving," she said of Gibson. Over the summer, Foster also spoke up for her former Panic Room costar Kristen Stewart at the height of her cheating scandal. "I think it's important that when people are struggling, that you not run away from them if you love them. Kristen, I mean, I look at the room tonight, you know, Kristen Stewart and Claire Danes, Jennifer Lawrence, all these young women that I worked with who basically were child actors like I was a child actor, and then I feel very protective of them, because even though I think I have managed to get through the process relatively sanely, I had my scars, and I hope to be in some ways a member of their family that's out there protecting them." Foster's biggest shock of all: That she's still working in Hollywood. "You know, from the time I was little, my mom prepared me for the fact that my career would be over by the time I was 18 . . . I am very surprised that I ended up doing the same job that I did from the time I was three!" ///Miss America crowns 2013 winner'///

They danced, twirled, flashed their pearly whites and strutted their best stuff in a quest for the tiara — and the scholarship cash. And in the end ... Miss New York, Mallory Hytes Hagan, 23, was named Miss America 2013. Her hometown is Brooklyn and she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her platform issue is child sexual abuse prevention and she plans to obtain a degree in cosmetics and fragrance marketing, according to her bio, with an eye toward a career in global cosmetics marketing. She was tops with the judges in the swimsuit competition during Saturday night's show, and she performed a mean tap dance to James Brown's Get Up Offa That Thing. The night kicked off with ABC hosts Chris Harrison (The Bachelor) and Brooke Burke-Charvet (Dancing With the Stars) introducing the 53 contestants (50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands), who introduced themselves with sassy state sayings, including: -"From the state that brought you Channing Tatum, People's Sexiest Man Alive, You're Welcome. I'm Anna Laura Bryan, Miss Alabama." -"From the state where your vote counts, and counts, and counts, I'm Laura McKeeman, Miss Florida." -"From the state that celebrates diversity — from Scarlett O'Hara to Honey Boo Boo, I'm Leighton Jordan, Miss Georgia." -"From the home of Abraham Lincoln — before he was a movie, I'm Megan Ervin, Miss Illinois." -"From the home of Aerosmith, rock on, America. I'm Taylor Kinzler, Miss Massachusetts." -"From the state that weds 150 couples each day in Las Vegas — Tim Tebow, what do you say we make it 151? — I'm Randi Sundquist, Miss Nevada." -"Sandy may have swept away our shores, but never our spirit. I'm Miss New York, Mallory Hagan." -"From the state where we use sushi as bait, and, no, y'all are the ones with the accent, I am Miss South Carolina, Ali Rogers." And there's Mariah Cary, Miss Iowa. Said Burke-Charvet, "I feel great. It's gonna be a good night!" First up: A special "America's choice" semi-finalist, chosen from online voting based on contestant vidoes: Miss Montana Alex Wineman, the first contestant in the pageant to have been diagnosed with autism. Doing the judging: Entertainment Tonight veteran host Mary Hart, designer Bradley Bayou, Olympic gold medalist McKayla Maroney, GMA weatherman Sam Champion, Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke, Shark Tank star Daymond John and Miss America 2009 Katie Stam Irk. The 14 semifinalists (joining Miss Montana): Miss Texas Danae Couch Miss Utah Kara Arnold Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton Miss Wyoming Lexie Madden Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers Miss Tennessee Chandler Lawson Miss Alabama Anna Laura Bryan Miss Maryland Joanna Guy Miss Illinois Megan Ervin Miss Indiana Merriebeth Cox Miss New York Mallory Hytes Hagan Miss Florida Laura McKeeman Miss Kentucky Jessica Casebolt Miss Iowa Mariah Cary Harrison then announced a surprise twist! The judges were going to get a chance to add one more semifinalist to the pack. Quick! Huddle around Mary Hart and come up with a 16th semifinalist. After "madly conferring," he said, they added Miss Washington Mandy Schendel. Swimsuit time featured the 16 showing their taut bods sporting Catalina bikinis, most of them in solid red, blue, white or black. Before announcing the next cuts, McKayla Maroney took a second out to give her "not impressed" look. But she said she was "kidding." The 12 moving on to the evening wear part of the competition: Miss Washington Mandy Schendel Miss Maryland Joanna Guy Miss Texas Danae Couch Miss Alabama Anna Laura Bryan Miss New York Mallory Hagan Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers Miss Indiana Merribeth Cox Miss Tennessee Chandler Lawson Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton Miss Wyoming Lexie Madden Miss Illinois Megan Ervin Miss Iowa Mariah Cary So, what are the judges looking for? "This is that real spotlight moment," explained Sam Champion. "This is elegance, poise, grace and that ability to grab every bit of attention and focus it on her. This is her moment." Moving more gracefully and slower, the 12 worked the stage. Five wore white, three wore black, one blue, one red, one silver, one gray. Shameless plug time: Burke-Charvet touted her new fitness DVD and the contestants did a few moves, even though most of them were wearing high heels. Talent time for the Top 10 finalists: Miss Texas Danae Couch twirled batons to Donna Summer's Last Dance. Oops! One small drop. But she finished big - juggling three at once. Miss Tennessee Chandler Lawson sang Adele's Turning Tables. Miss Illinois Megan Ervin danced to Journey's Faithfully. Taking a break from the action, Harrison then noted the pageant contestants probably "haven't eaten carbs in about six years!" so he and Burke-Charvet passed out donuts to those who were no longer in the running. "You have no idea how deprived these ladies have been," said Burke-Charvet. Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton tap-danced to Michael Buble's version of Can't Buy Me Love. Miss Wyoming Lexie Madden played an original composition on the piano. Nice. Impressive. Miss Maryland Joanna Guy belted out the showy I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables. Miss New York Mallory Hagan tap-danced to James Brown's Get Up Offa That Thing. And she rocked it. Pro Cheryl Burke said, "It's all about the passion. You don't have to be technically perfect." Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers played The Jackson Five's I Want You Back on piano. She must be fun at a party and she pounded it out, filling it with flashy runs. Miss Iowa Mariah Cary tap-danced to Scatman John's Scatman. She started with a flip, and included splits. Tough competition in the tap department for the night. Miss Washington Mandy Schendel sang (mangled, according to most on Twitter) Rascal Flatt's My Wish. Note: Two of the contestants who received a lot of attention before the pageant did not make it to the Top 10. Miss District of Columbia Allyn Rose will undergo a double mastectomy now that the competition is over as a preventive measure because cancer runs in her family. And Miss Montana Alexis Wineman was the Miss America organization's first autistic competitor. Now, for the all-important question time! First up: Miss Oklahoma Alicia Clifton. She drew judge Cheryl Burke, who asked, "What are you thoughts on how sensational reality shows like Honey Boo Boo and Toddlers and Tiaras portray their mothers, young girls and the world of pageants?" Her answer: "Even though we do think they live an outrageous lifestyle, at the end of the day you have to admit that mother loves her daughter ...You have to remember these are reality shows and we just have to take them with a grain of salt." Next: Miss South Carolina Ali Rogers. Judge Katie Stam Irk brought up Brent Musberger's comments about quarterback A.J. McCarron's girlfriend, asking if they "objectify women." Her response: "As a football fan and as someone who would like to be featured.. at a football game, I think he has every right to point out her beauty. She is, in fact, gorgeous. I think this is something we can display not only on the Miss America stage, but hey, at a football game, too." Next: Miss New York Mallory Hagan. Sam Champion asked about gun control and a proposal to have an armed guard in every school. "Do you think that would make our schools safer?" "I actually don't," she said. "I don't think the proper way to fight violence is with violence." She urged education about guns. Fourth: Miss Iowa Mariah Cary. Bradley Bayou asked about marijuana legalization and whether it's the right direction for our country. "I think that depends on the situation. I personally know people who have had to go to medical marijuana for their last resort for their health care and I support that. However, I do not think it should be used for anything but recreational use and health care." Oops! Final question went to Miss Wyoming Lexie Madden. She was asked by McKayla Maroney if parents are being too quick to medicate for attention deficit disorder. Her answer: "It comes down to a parent's choice. but ultimately if they want to medicate their child they also need to look for alternative options to truly fix the problem and not just cover it up with medication."

It was a private moment captured for posterity's sake, but it could serve as an iconic, offseason reminder for the Denver Broncos of who they have behind center. A humbled Peyton Manning, with reporters hammering away on deadline and videocameras shut off after the last postgame question had been answered, took his family into the Ravens' locker room on Saturday night to visit a fellow future Hall of Famer. Manning eventually found Ray Lewis, according to Ravens media director Chad Steele in a caption accompanying a photograph he posted to Twitter. [+] Enlarge Chad Steele/Baltimore Ravens Peyton Manning took his family into the Ravens' locker room on Saturday night after a 38-35, two-OT loss to visit Ray Lewis. "Great moment @ 1.5 hours after the game, Peyton Manning and his family waited to congratulate @raylewis52," Steele's tweet said. Lewis, who will retire after the playoffs to cap a 17-year career, will play on after the Ravens stunned the host Broncos 38-35 in two overtimes, a loss that goes down with the most devastating in Denver history. "Certainly we did a lot of good things this season, but as of right now, it's hard to think about anything besides the loss tonight," Manning said afterward. Manning did enough in regulation to help his team win, despite the first two turnovers. But he also was not perfect. He wasn't at his best, whether it was due to the weather or the pressure of leading his new franchise to a playoff win. "I probably wasn't quite as good as I wanted to be," Manning said, "and it probably cost us a couple scoring opportunities." On Denver's second possession of overtime, he stopped and threw across his body to the middle of the field and into the arms of Ravens cornerback Corey Graham at Denver's 45. Baltimore ran five plays and gained 16 yards before Justin Tucker sailed his winning kick down the middle. "Yeah, bad throw," Manning said. "Probably the decision wasn't great, either. I thought I had an opening, and I didn't get enough on it, and I was trying to make a play and certainly a throw I'd like to have back." Lewis, who led the Ravens with 17 tackles over this nearly 77-minute game in 13-degree weather, kneeled down to the ground and put his helmet on the rock-solid turf when it was over. "I've never been a part of a game so crazy in my life," Lewis said.

//'GANGSTER SQUAD' REVIEW: SOULLESS MOBSTER MASH MISSES THE MARK//

January slouches on with the release of "Gangster Squad," a bloody revision of the old Warner Bros. crime films of the 1930s. The story begins in 1949 in Los Angeles, a city thick with vice and corruption, where snarling mob boss Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) is determined to take over the town. Cohen owns any number of cops and judges, and his dope and prostitution rackets are thus untouchable. This doesn’t sit well with one straight-arrow sergeant, John O’Mara (Josh Brolin), a square-jawed war vet with an inflamed sense of justice and a respect for due process that’s barely vestigial. These qualities appeal to new police chief William Parker (Nick Nolte), who directs O’Mara to assemble a squad of fellow two-fisted idealists that will operate outside the law, smash Cohen’s operations, and send him packing. In a rather contemporary manner, O’Mara recruits one black cop (Anthony Mackie), one Hispanic (Michael Peña), one colorful old coot (Robert Patrick), and one youngish tech nerd (Giovanni Ribisi). More centrally, he brings in a laid-back smoothie named Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who unwisely launches an affair with Cohen’s moll, a vision in purple satin and crimson lipstick named Grace Faraday. Grace is played by Emma Stone, and it’s hard not to notice that, at age 24, she’s really too young to be a sayer of lines like “Where have you been all my miserable life?” But this is only one of the movie’s problems. (Another is that director Ruben Fleischer, who previously gave us the wonderful "Zombieland," might be more at home with comedy than with this sort of violent genre exercise.)

And it didn’t take long for the singer’s band mates to send their birthday wishes to him either. First to wish Zayn Malik many happy returns was eldest member of the group Louis Tomlinson, 21. He tweeted: “Massive happy birthday to my brother @zaynmalik . See you in a bit ! Huge love !” Up next was Niall Horan ,19, who clearly only likes to celebrate birthdays in one place. Down the pub.

//Record cold expected in Denver//

That glove Peyton Manning has been wearing on his throwing hand will come in quite handy Saturday for what could be the coldest home postseason game in Denver Broncos' history. Those not playing may want to sit on the heated benches -- or next to the electric heaters -- because the game-time temperature when the Broncos host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC divisional playoffs is expected to be 17 degrees, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Kalina. In other words, "bundle up," Kalina said. The coldest postseason contest at Mile High was 18 degrees for the 1977 AFC Championship Game, when Denver beat Oakland 20-17. The chilliest home game ever in Denver? That would be 9 degrees against San Diego on Dec 10, 1972. Being such a meticulous planner, Manning left nothing to chance in the weeks leading up this game. To prepare for the possibility of wintry weather, the four-time NFL MVP wore an orange-and-gray glove on his throwing hand the last two games. Manning has been quite effective, too, with the glove -- his completion percentage has been almost 6 points better and his passer rating almost 20 points higher than without it. The stickiness of the glove also helps Manning better grip the football, especially these days after the multiple neck surgeries he underwent during his season out of football. "I certainly don't think I would have had to wear the glove had I not been injured last year," Manning said. "It's part of my injury, some things that I've had to adjust. I'm in a different body. Some things are different for me, so that's the reason for that as much as anything." The cool weather certainly hasn't been friendly to Manning, who's 0-3 in playoff games in which the temperature at kickoff is less than 40 degrees. And this game will certainly be well south of that number. "It's going to be very cold," Kalina said. "There may even be a few flakes, but it shouldn't affect the game. Just really cold." This isn't even close to the coldest game in NFL history, though. That distinction belongs to "The Ice Bowl" on Dec. 31, 1967, when the temperature at Lambeau Field reached minus-13 (with a minus-48 wind chill) in a contest between Green Bay and Dallas. All week, Broncos players boasted about wearing short-sleeves despite the cool conditions. It was simply a matter of convincing the mind it really wasn't all the frigid. "Once you get out there, you're on the field, you're just fine," Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas said earlier this week. "But if you're just sitting around, that's when it gets to you. As long as you're out there on the field and warm, you're good."

//Biden Gun Violence Meetings: NRA Criticism Draws No Comment//

Vice President Joe Biden described his meeting with the National Rifle Association Thursday as “productive” and said that even advocates for gun owners do not agree on one single solution to minimizing gun violence “I thought we had a very straightforward, productive meeting,” Biden told reporters at the beginning of his meeting with representatives from the video game industry today. Asked what he thought about the NRA’s stinging statement after the meeting yesterday, Biden only said, “I don’t have any comment on what anybody said about the meetings.” Shortly after Thursday’s meeting, the NRA blasted Biden, saying the administration is not trying to produce legitimate ideas about how to curb gun violence and instead went after the Second Amendment. “We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment,” the NRA said Thursday. “While claiming that no policy proposals would be ‘prejudged,’ this task force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners — honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans.” “It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems,” the NRA said. “We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of Congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works — and what does not.” The vice president tried to draw a distinction between the NRA and other gun ownership groups he met with this week, saying, “There is actually difference among them as well. It’s not a uniform view.” Biden, who was joined by Attorney General Eric Holder and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, met today with representatives from the video game industry, including members of Electronic Arts, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board, and Activision Blizzard, Inc., the makers of the highly popular Call of Duty games. In the weeks after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., the video game industry was criticized for promoting violent video games, but Biden assured the group that he was keeping an open mind. “I come to this meeting with no judgment. You all know the judgments other people have made,” Biden said. “There’s no silver bullet, there’s no, as one of my friends said, no seat belt that you can put on to assure that you will not be in this circumstance again,” he said. “I want you to know you have not been, quote, singled out for help, but we’ve asked a whole lot of people.” The vice president made no reference to an assault weapons ban, a topic which has not come up in the public portion of his meetings this week, raising questions about the administration’s intent to pursue such a ban. Biden said he’s still “shooting for Tuesday” as his deadline to submit recommendations to the president.

//Justin Timberlake to return to music after six years/

On Monday morning, Justin Timberlake is coming back. A surprise countdown on the singer's website promises that something – expected to be a new single – will be released at the beginning of next week. According to Billboard and the Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake has recorded around 20 songs for his third solo album. "Someone asked me the other day, 'So are you just done with music?'" the 31-year-old said in a new video, posted to his website on Thursday. "[But] I don't wanna put anything out that I don't love … You have to wait for it." "Look I've only done two albums in 10 years," Timberlake explained. "I'm the one that sits and is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it." Yet now, for the first time since 2006's FutureSex/LoveSounds, "I'm ready," Timberlake said. The clip finishes with the singer standing by a microphone, wearing a pair of headphones.

//2013 Oscar Nominations: Who Will Win?//

Nominees: Alan Arkin, Argo Christoph Waltz, Django Unchained Robert De Niro, Silver Linings Playbook Philip Seymour Hoffman, The Master Tommy Lee Jones, Lincoln Like the all-star season of Dancing with the Stars, except these really are all stars, this category features five Academy Award winners. De Niro, 69, a two-time champ for The Godfather Part II (Best Supporting Actor) and Raging Bull (Best Actor), who is decades past his World’s Great Actor prime, when he was routinely robbed of Oscars — somehow he did not win for Taxi Driver or Cape Fear — has received his first nomination in 21 years for the mostly comic role of Bradley Cooper’s blustering dad. Arkin, 78, who won Best Supporting Actor seven years ago for his crazy-like-a-fox grandpa in Little Miss Sunshine, also has a comic part as one of the two Hollywood insiders who help hatch the Argo caper. It’s a mystery as to why Arkin was nominated while John Goodman, his partner in chicanery, was not even in the conversation. Waltz, 56, a Best Supporting Actor winner as the slick Nazi in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, is back as a bounty-hunting dentist in Tarantino’s Django Unchained — it’s really a leading role, or a co-starring one, but Waltz makes himself worthy in either category. If the final dance were a pas de deux, the performers would be Hoffman, 45, a 2006 winner for Best Actor in Capote, and Jones, 66, who won Best Supporting Actor in 1994 for The Fugitive. Hoffman is the Master in The Master, an L. Ron Hubbard type who seems as jovial as he is menacing. Jones is all prickly intellect, all fuming righteousness, as Thaddeus Stevens, who pushed the 13th Amendment through Congress for President Lincoln. (Could he help Obama with immigration reform?) It’s a coin toss, but we say the Academy has a Jones for Tommy Lee. Snubs: Matthew McConaughey, 43, has never been nominated for an Oscar. Even at the Teen Choice Awards, the erstwhile rom-com preener lost out in such categories as Sexiest Love Scene and Choice Movie Liplock. Going boldly indie for a half-dozen films, four of them released last year, he earned critic cred for Killer Joe (lead) and Bernie and Magic Mike (supporting). He may have another shot next year, when his AIDS-victim role in Dallas Buyers Club, for which he lost 25 lb., will be eligible for Oscar consideration. Javier Bardem, 43, snagged a statuette five years ago as the chilling killer Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men; his Skyfall turn, as the mad genius who tries to blow up the British spy service, geysers even higher into chilling comedic grandeur. But this time the Academy didn’t acknowledge his work. Waltz’s co-stars in Django — Oscar nominees Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson — were also ignored. Or in a Tarantino twist on a Sergio Leone trope, the three actors engaged in a triangular shootout, and only the Austrian survived.
